Picture above shows mechanism of italain switchblade stiletto, such as F. Beltrame stiletto. For example was taken diassembled Frank Beltrame classic stiletto model which allows to see knife mechanism inside. Construction of italian stiletto switchblade consist of blade (1); sectional rocking button for opening a knife (2); sliding safety (3);
front bolsters (4); rear bolsters (5);
spring, pushing blade (6), locking tab (7), and liners, which, usually made form brass (8).
Picture does not show: pins, rivets and scales.
Mechanism of italain switchblade stiletto is simple and doen`t change during decades. In closed position blade is holded by pin, which inserts in a hole near tang, when button (2) is depressed, pin goes out of hole and release the blade (1), which pushed out of handle by spring (6) and locked by Locking tab (7).
To close the knife it`s necessary to turn swivel bolster (4), which pick up Locking tab (7) and release the blade - see
Swivel bolster.
